Howdy all GoLers,

 

We’re thinking of expanding GoL into Lausanne & Zurich. We want to share with the community our early thinking on how and why to expand, and ask for your feedback on how to ensure this makes GoL better for YOU.  Thanks for posting your comments on this forum.

 

HOW TO EXPAND

Our overall principle is to stay focused on local people & communities, and create independent local communities (like GoL today) in neighboring cities, behind these 4 key ideas:

  1. All members (from GE, Lausanne, Zurich) will log into 1 overall site, then select their city and be directed to a local community with local members / content

  2. All members will be able to - if they want - also explore neighboring communities for friends/activities

  3. Some features might be shared between all cities (for example: ‘Cross-city General Forum’)

  4. We'll ensure that as we expand (& become more visible), we implement a strong technical solution to address the growing risk of spammers / horny daters / weirdoes joining.

WILL GOL CHANGE?

GoL will basically remain exactly as it is today. GoLers who want, will also be able to visit neighboring communities or to post content to ‘cross-city' features.

 

 WHY EXPAND

  1. Create more interesting options for Geneva members, via allowing GoLers to explore friends/activities in more cities

  2. Make it easy for Lausanne & Zurich folks to have their own local communities (especially as there’s already a very active Lausanne section on GoL).

  3. Be able to invest more money into developing the community, by having a better chance of generating more advertising revenues as more members choose to join the community.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? 

We’d love to hear anyone’s feedback on the overall idea, and specifically on these points:

  1. Do you personally see any potential dangers / negative aspects to how YOU currently use GoL, if we expand the community to more cities?

  2. Would YOU like to see any specific new Privacy options relating to how members of other cities can see / chat / Email you?
